Ivermectin Injection

【Main ingredients】Ivermectin

【Properties】This product is a colorless or almost colorless clear liquid, slightly viscous.

Pharmacokinetics The pharmacokinetics of ivermectin varies significantly depending on the animal species, dosage form and route of administration. Bioavailability is higher for subcutaneous injection than for internal administration, but internal administration is more rapidly absorbed than subcutaneous injection. It is well distributed to most tissues after absorption, but does not easily enter the cerebrospinal fluid. The expressed volume of distribution is 0.45-2.4, 4.6 and 4 L/kg in cattle, sheep and pigs, respectively. there is a long half-life in most animals, 2-3, 2-7 and 0.5 days in cattle, sheep and pigs, respectively. The product is metabolized in the liver, mainly hydroxylated in cattle and sheep and methylated in pigs, and excreted mainly in the feces, with less than 5% excreted in the urine in its original form or as metabolites. In lactating ewes, up to 5% of the administered amount is excreted from milk.

Pharmacological action] Pharmacodynamics Ivermectin has good anthelmintic effect on internal and external parasites, mainly nematodes and arthropods. The mechanism of its anthelmintic action is to promote the release of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) from presynaptic neurons, thus opening the GABA-mediated chloride channels. Ivermectin also has selective and high affinity for the glutamate-mediated chloride channels located near the GABA-mediated sites in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, thus interfering with interneuromuscular signaling and causing relaxation and paralysis of the worms, leading to their death or being expelled from the body.

The apparent volume of distribution ranges from 0.45 to 2.4, 4.6 and 4 L/kg in cattle, sheep and pigs, respectively, and has a long half-life in most animals, ranging from 2 to 3, 2 to 7 and 0.5 days in cattle, sheep and pigs, respectively. The product is metabolized in the liver, mainly hydroxylated in cattle and sheep, and mainly methylated in pigs. It is mainly excreted in the feces, and less than 5% is excreted in the urine in its original form or as a metabolite. In lactating ewes, up to 5% of the administered amount is excreted from milk.

Drug Interactions

Concomitant use with ethamazine may produce severe or lethal encephalopathy.

【Actions and Uses】Anti-parasitic drug of macrolide class. It is used to control nematode disease, mite disease and other parasitic insect diseases in domestic animals.

【Usage and dosage】Subcutaneous injection: 0.02ml per 1kg body weight for cattle and sheep, 0.03ml for pigs.

Adverse effects

(1) When used for the treatment of bull fly larvae, if the killed larvae are in the critical area, it will cause serious adverse reactions.

(2) When injecting, there is discomfort or temporary edema at the injection site.

Precautions]

(1) Not allowed during lactation.

(2) Subcutaneous injection only, as intramuscular and intravenous injection may cause toxic reactions. Each subcutaneous injection site should not exceed 10ml.

(3) Ivermectin injection containing glycerol acetal and propylene glycol is only suitable for cattle, sheep and pigs.

(4) With ivermectin to shrimp, fish and aquatic organisms are highly toxic, residual drugs and packaging must not pollute water.

(5) Simultaneous use with Ethamazine may produce serious or lethal encephalopathy.
